Andre Roberson Delays Announcement On NBA Decision

Apr 26, 2013 3:42 PM

Andre Roberson canceled a Friday press conference at which he was scheduled to announce whether he would enter the NBA draft.

The deadline is 10 p.m. Sunday for non-seniors to declare for the draft.

"It's a big decision, an emotional decision," Colorado coach Tad Boyle said. "Especially for Andre, when you want something (professional career) so much and you're also at a place (CU) that is so special to him, you're torn.

"Andre sees the benefits and risks of both, and he's weighing those benefits and risks. At the end of the day, he'll do what's best for him."

Grant Jerrett Declares For NBA Draft

Apr 18, 2013 11:25 AM

Grant Jerrett has declared himself eligible for the NBA draft.

A 6-foot-10, 235-pound forward, Jerrett averaged 5.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in in his first and only season at Arizona.

Jerrett shot 40.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 81.8 percent from the free throw line.

“I would like to wish Grant well as he pursues his goal of becoming a part of the NBA,” Wildcats coach Sean Miller said in a statement. “Not only is Grant a talented player, but he is an even better person with a wonderful and supportive family. I look forward to helping him in any way that I can as he moves forward in his basketball career.”

Trey Burke Hopes To Make Draft Decision Sunday

Apr 12, 2013 8:28 PM

Trey Burke hopes to make his decision Sunday about whether to enter the NBA draft.

“I think that will be the day that I decide,” said Burke, who is currently in Los Angeles to receive the John Wooden Award. “I think it’s time to make a decision so I can move forward and kind of get the (national title loss) in the past so I can move forward.”

Burke has been listed as a lottery pick most mock drafts.

"I've been hearing different things, top 10 pick, mid first-round, things like that," Burke said. "I really won't know until the draft, really, there's a lot that goes into this process. That's why I feel like I need to take my time.

"A decision like this, you don't want to make too quick of a decision. You want to make the right one and do what's best for you and your future."

Boyle: Andre Roberson Receiving 'Misinformation' On Draft Position

Apr 12, 2013 11:13 AM

Tad Boyle believes Andre Roberson is receiving "misinformation" that may be influencing the junior forward's thought process.

"There's a lot of misinformation that I can't control — who's talking to him or his family," Boyle said. "I know Andre is a terrific young man. He's got a good head on his shoulders. But there are a lot of things that go into (this decision) in terms of the family and the misinformation.”

Roberson is rated no higher than a second round pick by draft outlets and most NBA scouts.

"Really what it comes down to is risk-reward. ... For Andre, the reward is 'iffy,'” Boyle said. “And the risk is pretty drastic, pretty major. At the end of the day, these guys have that dream (to play in the NBA), and it's a very strong magnet that draws them."

Alford Assumes Shabazz Muhammad Leaving UCLA For NBA

Apr 11, 2013 9:05 PM

Steve Alford revealed that he has not had any contact with Shabazz Muhammad since being named coach of UCLA last month.

"I have not spoken to him," Alford said. "I've seen everybody else and spoken to everybody else. I've placed some phone calls but I have not been able to touch base with him."

Muhammad has yet to make a formal announcement.

"I'm assuming that it's pretty clear," Alford said. "All projections have him as a lottery pick, so I assume he's going."
